Free Quit smoking pack for the UK ban

Enough has been said over the years about the ills of smoking, smoking has so many diseases and problems linked to it, that there are complete thesis's that are written on the various diseases that are caused by smoking. The number one disease of course is lung cancer, and there is no denying that almost all smokers the world over are aware that smoking is injurious to there health. (Governments the world over ensure they know that).

There are numerous secondary diseases apart from lung cancer that are associated with smoking, below is a list of some of the major reason's to quit smoking apart from lung cancer

Reason 1:

Non-cancerous lung diseases, are usually a series of chronic obstructive diseases, that slowly erode the lung's capacity to manage oxygen. Almost 80% of the chronic obstructive lung diseases (COLD) in the world are attributed to smoking. The problem with COLD is that they are not instant, it takes years of lung abuse to manifest, something associated with most smokers.

Reason 2:

Arteriosclerosis is a diseases that manifests itself by blocking blood supply to various body organs, the most susceptible are the arteries of the heart (coronary arteries). The clogging of coronary arteries results in a heart attack; besides the heart, smoking actually cuts of blood supply to other vital organs as well.

Reason 3:

Smoking has shown to hinder the fertility of women and men. The toxic effects of smoking directly impair the reproductive capabilities of women, in men it has been known to cause impotence. Smoking during pregnancy has also known to cause abortions and abnormal foetal development. Just like alcohol and drugs, smoking too can cause restarted foetal growth.

Reason 4:

Cancer of the lungs is not the only cancer that smoking is known to cause, chemicals produced in smoke actually damage all membranes they come in contact with. Oral cancer, cancer of the throat are just some of the cancers that have been attributed to tobacco and nicotine. Nicotine alone does not cause these cancers, its the various by products like benzene, propenal and nitrosamines that cause the cancer.

The biggest reason for quitting should be the impact smoking is having on your health, every cigarette smoked directly reduces your life expectancy. There should be no motivation to quit smoking, no reasons just a plain and simple Darwinian instinct of self preservation. Quit smoking today and make your life healthier and longer.
